Day by Day itinerary
Days 01 to 04 – Arathusa Safari Lodge, Sabi Sand
Your journey begins with a flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit Airport, followed by a scenic drive to the northern Sabi Sand, one of Africa’s most legendary wildlife reserves. You’ll spend 3 luxurious nights at the beautiful Arathusa Safari Lodge, perfectly situated in prime game-viewing territory, overlooking a large waterhole frequented by resident hippos and a constant parade of wildlife.
Explore the Sabi Sand Reserve in open safari vehicles, guided by experienced trackers and guides on morning and evening game drives. The area is known for its incredible concentration of wildlife, especially Big Cats, offering some of the best predator sightings in Africa.
At the lodge, you can unwind in one of the comfortable lounge areas or take a dip in the pool, all with views of the waterhole. Arathusa offers luxurious safari suites, with some overlooking the waterhole and others tucked away in the bush for added privacy. The bush suites feature private plunge pools, ideal for couples seeking a romantic escape, while the waterhole suites boast private verandahs for peaceful wildlife viewing. Each spacious suite is uniquely decorated and comes with a full ensuite bathroom, an outdoor shower, and air conditioning, ensuring both comfort and style throughout your stay.
Days 04 to 07 – Kambaku River Sands, Timbavati
After a final morning game drive and a delicious breakfast at Arathusa, you’ll be transferred to the tranquil Timbavati Private Game Reserve for the next leg of your safari adventure. Spend 3 nights at Kambaku River Sands, an owner-run lodge nestled along the banks of a dry riverbed, where wildlife gathers at the lodge’s active waterhole. The atmosphere here is intimate, with passionate guides and trackers leading you on immersive morning and evening game drives, as well as guided bush walks that bring you closer to the wilderness.
At Kambaku River Sands, every detail is crafted to ensure your stay is as memorable as possible, from the warm hospitality to the tasty treats you’ll enjoy throughout the day. The lodge’s inviting main areas include a large pool, which has been known to attract elephants for a drink, a gym, and plenty of serene private spaces to relax in. Meals are a delightful experience, served al fresco on the deck or in the traditional boma under the stars.
Your spacious suite is built under a thatched roof, complete with a full ensuite bathroom and large windows that open up to the surrounding bush. The private deck allows you to take in the sights and sounds of the wilderness—don’t be surprised if you spot antelope or even an elephant passing by.
Day 07 – Johannesburg
After your final morning activity, you’ll be transferred back to Hoedspruit Airport for your return flight to Johannesburg, wrapping up an unforgettable safari journey.
