MASAI MARA WALKING SAFARI WITH KICHECHE
This safari is a little different! Concentrating solely on the incredibly diverse Masai Mara, this trip combines luxury permanent safari camps with a two day walking safari. This is the best of both worlds as you will still enjoy traditional game drives on the private Naboisho and Olare Motorogi Conservancies.
Led by a Silver KPSGA guide, this five-night private Masai Mara walking safari takes you, on foot, from Kicheche Valley Camp to Kicheche Bush Camp, with a fly camping overnight experience.
The private conservancies team with game and the Big 5. Well known for being big cat territory, the Masai Mara have very healthy populations of lions, leopards and cheetah.
The Kicheche Safari Camps have a high number of returning guests each year, proof that they offer an exceptional safari experience.
This is a privately guided safari. Rates differ during the seasons, with the highest from July to October as this is when the wildebeest migration is found in the Masai Mara.
Masai Mara Walking Safari Rates for 2022
Rates include Flights (Nairobi-Masai Mara-Nairobi), Mara airstrip transfers, full board accommodation including all drinks (excluding champagne), services of a KPSGA qualified guide, laundry and conservation fees. Kicheche Valley only – night drives and bush breakfast. Camps are closed from 7 April til 28 May annually.
Day by Day itinerary
Day 1 to 3 – Kicheche Valley Camp, Naibosho Conservancy
Your safari starts at Nairobi’s Wilson airport for your charter flight to the Naibosho Conservancy in the Masai Mara. You will spend 2 nights at Kicheche Valley Camp, in the heart of Big 5 land. Your days will be spent on safari game drives with your guide in a specialist vehicle that is great for photography. Bird watching is excellent at Kicheche Valley Camp.
Kicheche Valley Camp nestles under acacia woodlands in a secluded valley. This small and intimate safari camp only has 6 safari tents. Each luxury tent is built on a deck and commands views of the surrounding bush and animals wandering past. Each has a private deck, clean contemporary look and spacious en suite facilities. The main areas overlook the valley with views of the natural spring.

Day 3 to 4 – Fly Camping, Naibosho Conservancy
Enjoy an early morning game drive and brunch at camp before being briefed by your guide about your walk to the next camp. Departing early afternoon, you will walk through numerous valleys, stopping to learn and examine tracks. After walking for about 3 to 4 hours, you will arrive at your fly camp in the Naibosho Conservancy. With just you and your guides, this is a truly intimate and unique safari experience. Dinner is cooked over the open fire, while you enjoy its warmth.
Spend the night in a canvas dome tent, with warm and cosy beds. There is a temporary shower and toilet facility nearby. The Maasai askari (guard) will happily escort you during the night if required. After an early morning wake up call and a light breakfast you will continue walking towards Bush Camp. Your walk will take you along the escarpment and the Seketa Valley of Olare Motorogi Conservancy.
Your walk will take about 4 to 5 hours and you should be in camp by lunchtime. You are accompanied by very experienced Silver level KPSGA guides, one of who is licenced to carry a rifle.

Day 4 to 6 – Kicheche Bush Camp, Olare Motorogi Conservancy
Located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, Kicheche Bush Camp is an outstanding place to be based to enjoy the superlative game viewing. Comfortable communal areas overlook the surrounding bush. The size safari tents are spread out and have large meshed windows. The lounge or deck area is a perfect place to relax during the day. Spend your time out on game drives with your guides. Each vehicle is open-sided to ensure that you get the best sighting and photograph!
Your trip ends with a charter flight back to Nairobi.
