Silvan Safari An Unforgettable Safari
Mike booked a solo sojourn to the iconic Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve. This is big cat territory and leopard sightings are particularly good. Mike stayed at the uber-chic Silvan Safari Lodge in the northern section of the Sabi Sands.

Hi Michelle,
Trust you had a great holiday weekend!
I just wanted to thank you for putting together an unforgettable safari, and my first! The whole experience was incredible and everything went very smoothly, so thank you for organising everything so efficiently. I would definitely use your services again and can’t wait for my next safari in Sabi Sands – possibly at some point next year when I’m back in SA.
I saw all of the big 5 and it was very exciting. I was told by the tracker/driver and other guests that some of the animals that we saw were rare to see. Snapped some great photos. The lodge was incredible as were all of the staff. The tracker/driver were incredible and I already miss them! The other guests that joined on the drives were also very pleasant and made everything even more enjoyable.
On reflection, the only thing I was disappointed with – and I did not feed this back to the lodge manager – was the food. I was expecting, based on stellar reviews, that the food would be excellent. For the most part, I found it uninspiring and very average. The breakfast was good, and the final dinner on my last night also very good, more traditional and memorable – which is what I was expecting.
Not sure if the lodge had a staffing issue or sourcing ingredients has become a problem, but I was surprised that the food was no where near as good as other venues I’ve eaten at in Cape Town (and on the Garden Route) – some of which are hotels – yet they are not pitching themselves as ‘luxury’.
That aside, it did not put a downer on anything and overall everything was as perfect as it could be. I can see why safaris are so addictive and very much look forward to doing it again!
Thanks again
Mike
