This trip starts and ends in the town of Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. The rate is per person sharing and includes 6 nights of accommodation, all meals, all game activities (water level permitting), all local drinks and park fees. This trip can start or end in Kasane, making Victoria Falls a perfect extension.

A note about water levels in the Okavango Delta – The main water source for the waterways and lagoons of the Okavango Delta comes from the Angolan highlands. This flood water starts arriving in the main Delta area in April or May. Parts of the Delta will dry up, making water activities impossible. These camps tend to have water for most of the year.

Day by Day itinerary

Days 01 – 04: Okavango Explorers Camp, Selinda Spillway

Your adventure begins with your arrival in Maun. From here, you will take a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta to Okavango Explorers Camp. Upon landing, a short drive will bring you to the camp, where you’ll be welcomed with refreshing drinks and a brief orientation. At the intersection of the upper Okavango Delta water system and the famed Selinda Spillway, the camp’s location is a unique combination of two iconic ecosystems.

After settling into your comfortable tent with stunning views, enjoy a leisurely lunch. In the late afternoon, set off on your first game drive, exploring the diverse landscapes of the Delta. Return to camp for a delicious dinner under the stars, followed by a night of relaxation and stories around the campfire.

Each tent at Okavango Explorers Camp is spacious, with large beds and an expansive deck that overlooks the Selinda Spillway. Rooms are ensuite with shower facilities and beautifully decorated with a nod to safaris of a bygone era. The scenery is beautiful and it is not uncommon to see elephants regularly from your deck.

Daily activities include a morning game drive, when wildlife is most active. The Okavango Delta is renowned for its rich biodiversity, and you can expect to see elephants, hippos, buffalo, and a variety of antelope species. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the myriad of birdlife, including the iconic African fish eagle.

Should water levels permit, head out on a mokoro (dugout canoe) excursion, gliding silently through the waterways, offering a unique perspective on the flora and fauna. Experience the thrill of a guided bush walk, learning about the smaller aspects of the ecosystem often missed on game drives. Your knowledgeable guide will share insights into animal tracks, insects, and plants, deepening your appreciation for the Delta’s intricate web of life.

Your final morning at Okavango Explorers Camp includes a leisurely breakfast followed by a last game drive or mokoro trip. Bid farewell to the camp staff and transfer to Duba Explorers Camp, arriving in time for lunch.

Days 04 to 07 – Duba Explorers Camp, Okavango Delta

Upon arrival at Duba Explorers Camp, you’ll be struck by its stunning location amidst an area known for exceptional lion and buffalo interactions. Duba Explorers Camp is on an island surrounded by beautiful landscapes and watercourses as it sits in the heart of Botswana’s northern Okavango Delta floodplains.

Each tent at Duba Explorers Camp has the same wonderful touches you would expect from a Great Plains Conservation Camp, with large beds and ensuite facilities with showers. Each tent has a deck area where you can sit and enjoy the stunning landscapes. The main areas have a fire pit, a dining and bar area and a lounge area as well as a small plunge pool build on the back of an old expedition truck.

Activities include spending the day exploring the varied landscapes of the Duba concession. Morning and afternoon game drives will take you through floodplains, woodlands, and savannahs, each supporting a diverse range of wildlife. Duba is famous for its lion prides and their dramatic hunting strategies. Try a night drive to discover nocturnal creatures such as leopards, civets, and aardvarks. The night drive offers a different perspective and the chance to see wildlife that remains hidden during the day. Enjoy a mokoro excursion through the tranquil waterways, getting close to nature in a way that few experiences can match. Or take part in a photography safari, guided by experts who will help you capture the perfect shots of the Delta’s iconic wildlife and landscapes.

On your last day, take an early morning game drive to catch the wildlife at its most active. Return to camp for a final breakfast before packing up and saying goodbye to the Duba Explorers Camp team. A short flight will bring you back to Maun, where you’ll board your onward flight or continue your travels.
